April’s second top collectors were the 1st Bearley and Snitterfield Scout Group with a great total of £213.55. Nick Adams sent us this update on how the Scouts Appeal has helped this Group.
“Like most scout groups, we are constantly looking for new ways of raising money, to maintain and improve our hut and site and to buy new equipment. In the past year for example, we have completely refurbished our kitchen, upgraded the electricity supply, seen a large increase in our insurance costs, paid for leader training, purchased ten new tents and made a contribution towards the costs of the 2007 Centenary celebrations.
This amount generated by the recycling programme will certainly be put to good use as we intend to further improve the site, such as installing gates and also, begin additional work in the hut.
Recycling is increasingly coming to the forefront of environmental considerations which in turn are becoming more of a focus for our Scout Group too. This is an excellent scheme for our members and their parents to be involved in.”
