Quinton Scout Group was formed in 1928 and thanks to some very hard work in the early days the Group has gone from strength to strength, and continues to be at the forefront of Scouting in our area.
We are well known for doing our very best to ensure that all members of our Group from the youngest to the oldest get the most out of Scouting. We are lucky to have a senior element known as the Quinton Guild; these “old” Scouters back up the present leaders to deliver a quality programme of Scouting.
The money we have collected from recycling will be used to improve the Scouting possibilities for all members of Quinton Scouts, after such a successful first recycling campaign, the money raised will go towards our Group Camp which takes place at Beaudesert, near Cannock in May. It will allow us to have lots more activities such as archery, abseiling and raft building. We will be taking in excess of 80 members away, it would have been more but it is holiday time.
We are well on the way to our next collection and, as part of the recycling, we are using the work towards our Global challenge. Everyone who brings in something gets awarded points towards their section competitions.
The best advice I can give to any new collectors is the one I got from another group from our District who recycle, and that is don’t be too choosy take whatever comes in and then sort it later, it makes everyone feel as though they have done their bit.
The photo above shows a recent Family Fun Quiz at Quinton, as you can see it was well supported and again any profit is going towards our Group Camp.
